Preface

This collection of chapter summaries was written in the hope that it would help physics students understand the text better and make it easier to review for exams. Some students may want to read the summaries first, then read the text and do the homework problems. Others may find that it is better to read the text first, then use the summaries to find the formulas they need to do the homework problems. Many may discover that these summaries are very similar to the lectures, allowing them to take fewer notes in class. Only use them if they help; you already have enough to do without worrying about extra material. I am anxious to know of any errors you find in the summaries, and suggestions about how to make them clearer and more helpful will be gratefully accepted.
